Strength isn't about muscles

Abigail’s Daily is a Daily Column in The Innovative Online Journal to provide you with a short scoop on various topics. Designed to be a quick read during your morning coffee, open up The Innovative every weekday morning at 5:30 am and get your daily dose of Innovative.

How strong we are isn’t determined by how much we can lift.

Although yes, when I am working on a fitness goal, my lifting weight might be a component, I don’t personalize that; I don’t consider how much I can lift as being strong.

I look at strength as acknowledging the struggles and still showing up for yourself every day.

I look at strength as surviving, whatever you survived, the willpower that you got there, that’s strength.

I look at strength coming from the heart and the brain and acknowledging the empowerment it shows and brings to the world.

Strength is this beautiful thing that we don’t take enough time to look at and embrace.

All of us are strong, we have all faced different struggles, and we have come out the other end with learned lessons and more strength, or a different level of strength.

Strength is more than how much we can lift; but it is about how much will we have to hold ourselves, even when we feel like the world is crumbling down on us.
