I love food, we all love food, food is wonderful. I am a big believer that we should not restrict ourselves to only eat fruit, vegetables, whole grains, proteins; do I believe they are important, 100%, do I believe that we should feel guilt or shame when we go off track for a meal every once in a while, no.
It is important to stay healthy, put the right food in our body to fuel our day and our workouts, but it is not healthy to feel like we are deprived. It is not healthy to hate yourself after you have eaten the fries, or the dessert, or the plate of nachos. We have to remember to love ourselves, and yes we might have splurged and eaten the fries, but that is exactly what it was a splurge.
Now what starts to get difficult is when life gets hectic and we run out of time to make proper lunches, or meal prep on those Sundays. Now I am just getting back into meal prepping, and let me tell you, I always feel drained before it happens, knowing that I have to spend a good hour of my Sunday, meal prepping all of the food for the week. I don’t look forward to it. However, during the week, it saves me a lot of time, so to be fair, I do get that time back.
Now a lot of these Mason Jar Recipes, are recipes that I use daily. I am busy woman, half the time I don’t really have the time to eat at home, which probably does take a tole on my mental health, but at least I do eat when I get to work. I take one of these breakfast recipes and whip one up either the night before work, or the morning of. I have the privilege of being able to eat at work when I first get there, before the rush of the day starts, so I take the opportunity to eat and do some work at the same time. My favourite go to lately has been the yoghurt recipes. There had been a time when yoghurt wasn’t really my thing, it was becoming too something and it didn’t fit my palette anymore, but these recipes have been my go to, especially because I am usually a yoghurt that is much less sweet (Danon Naturals).
Take a look at these Mason Jar Recipes and Enjoy!
