Dear Coffee,

How did you find a way to get into our lives… and manipulate us into becoming so dependant on you?

I see you everywhere I go.

I get asked out to go see you all the time… even if I decide to drink something else, like hot chocolate or tea; I still went “on a date” with you.

If I spend too much time with you, I get nauseous and jittery, but I still can’t wait to see you the next day… this is becoming a little bit of toxic relationship if I do say so myself.

No matter what the weather seems to be, you always have a way of sliding into my life. On a cold day, when I want something to warm my soul, you seem to be convenient to find; and on hot day, when I would choose to drink something cold, you seem to come along the way in a different format, but the same great taste, the same dependency.

It is a great way to ensure your survival, especially in a world where plants, animals, and other species are going extinct… there is no way human beings will let you die out.

You have created a global impact; although you may be prepared in different formats, your ability to give an impactful dose of caffeine still holds importance for the entire world, especially in first world countries.

If there would ever be a shortage of you, whether it be distribution, growth or contamination… this would be a huge first world problem. There would be protests, research, memes, and uproars, that the majority of the population would see and understand. The whole world would be looking to find a solution to your problem, which again… I ask… how did you find a way to get into our lives… and manipulate us into becoming so dependant on you?

There are so many things going on in this world, things that need to be fixed, things that are unjust, problems that not enough people are talking about in the right ways.

I am not saying this because I don’t love you, I do. I am writing you this letter to reach out for your help. I just wish you could spread your secret; so we could have people care enough about other human beings, the same way they care about a hot cup of steamed and liquified coffee beans.

If you have any advice, any at all, please… now is the time to share it.
