I felt overwhelmed. I had just started a career path that I wasn’t sure about, I started putting my feet into adulthood and I had been working my ass off day in and day out. However, I felt overwhelmed. I felt like the world was on my shoulders, I felt like I could never fit in, I felt outcasted, and I didn’t feel like me anymore. I was irritable, I was moody, I was a straight out bitch to anyone who was relatively close to me, and I didn’t even realize that I had changed, because I was putting so much focus on the rest of the world, instead of on myself.

We have this list. A list that we continuously look through, update, change, and check off. What is on that list? Everything but you or me, we don’t prioritize our mental health and sometimes that kicks us right in the behind. So, I started drinking tea, I started running more, I started listening to podcasts, I started reading more,  I started doing a lot of yoga, I started meditating, I started training six days a week, I started eating healthier, I started eating less meat, I started adding legumes to my diet, I started researching what I needed to better myself and I started therapy. I started. I started something for me, and I am beginning to be rewarded with inner peace.

We frequently look at the beginning line, and we take a few steps forward and might be challenged to a point that makes us a little uncomfortable, but uncomfortable in our learning bubble; but that, that is the crucial point. That if something terrifies you, then that’s the universe’s way of telling you to do it. I am not talking about a dangerous situation on the street, or something where you may physically endanger yourself; I am talking about passion, about talent, about inner peace, about a life that is worth living. If we are not jumping towards something that terrifies us, in order to cultivate our passions, we are settling for something that is tolerable, that is “not too bad”. Cultivating our passion, that is life, that is what we were put on this earth to do and we are never too old or too busy to do it.

Every career path has a passion linked to it. There are people out there that are good at their job, but might not entirely be putting their talents to the best use; however, others may be. There is a future out there for each individual, and in order to jump forward, we need to put ourselves out there, we need to get out of our comfort zone, out of the box that society tries to force us into. We need to feel passionate about what we are doing in our life. How did I realize that, I started drinking tea.
