In next month’s issue of TeaGal Magazine there will be an article on how to declutter your space, the how to of going through all the things that you have and really figuring out what you need, versus what you are “just keeping to keep”. I do a declutter session at least twice a year, once on New Years Eve (according to our Gregorian Calendar), and once on the first weekend of spring. I have been doing this the last few years and one day I looked at the box of things that were in the “giveaway” pile, and I realized that a lot of the “stuff” in that box didn’t match who I was anymore.
As human beings we grow, change and evolve into new people. We are supposed to change and having a declutter session really shows you how you have over the years, and even over the year. The things that used to be important to you, might not be anymore and that’s okay. When we declutter a space, it allows us to feel more open to change, and creates this new, vibrant person. The problem is, if we don’t do anything about that new energy in that moment, it might disappear. That feeling that we get after we organize a space, it could be a bedroom, the kitchen, your work space, that is the energy that you need to tackle new ideas, to open yourself up to new experiences, you need to take advantage of that in the moment.
So how does that energy help you declutter your life? It allows you to look at things in a new perspective. When we say that we need to declutter our lives, it does not mean walking up to someone and saying that they don’t belong in your space anymore, but it does mean that you start to branch out and find people that do. You start to understand your potential in the world, and the life that you should be living, versus the life that you are.
Having a new perspective on life, it shows you your potential, what you were put on this earth to do. So, cleaning up your work space, it cleans up some of the scatter that is going on in your brain.
