Did you know that you learn to appreciate something more when you embrace yourself in it?
Did you know you learn how important something is when it’s gone?
Over the years, there have been movements to help the environment, great movements, movements that I took and continue to take part in. The one thing I didn’t often do enough was actually going outside in the environment.
I knew that the reusable bags, the metal straws, and eating less processed and packaged food were better for the earth, but it wasn’t until I started going outside regularly that I embraced the beauty that the earth brings us every day.
Earlier this week, I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. I hadn’t really heard the birds for so long because of winter, and it was a beautiful way to welcome the day. I missed them.
When we actually take a minute to go outside, to watch, to listen, to feel, and to smell everything that our world has to give us, it’s pretty amazing, even if sometimes it doesn’t smell all that great, there is a structure, a path, a chaos theory, where one moment could impact something light-years away.
The outdoors is the perfect place to journal, meditate, sit quietly and take it all in.
Start to get outside every day.
Start to appreciate what the world gives us every day.
