Day 2.
I know it is only day 2, I shouldn’t be seeing that much of a difference, but my energy levels seem to be a bit higher today. This could be from what I am eating, or it could be the overtiredness from the lack of sleep last night.
Do you ever just make this continuous to-do list while you are in bed trying to fall asleep? It doesn’t help you at all, it just creates this endless loop until you finally fall asleep from plain old exhaustion. Last night was the to-do list night, my brain was running on such an intense mode that I had dreams about things I had to do today! It was as if I couldn’t escape the work week.
I had no difficulty getting up this Monday morning to go for a run, which is pretty typical. Mondays I am always eager to workout early in the morning, but like every Monday my running pace is always a few seconds slower than on Saturday, funny how that is? I have started doing something different when I run, instead of listening to music, I downloaded a podcast to listen to. I enjoyed it, it was a nice distraction, to just listen along to someone talking. I then did my regular Monday routine, post-running yoga. I have been doing this for a few weeks now, running and doing yoga three times a week. I am not a flexible person, at all, and I know that it is something that I need to work on, so I warm up my muscles with a run and then stretch them out. I am beginning to notice a difference in some cases with my flexibility, but still feel like a piece of cardboard with other yoga sequences.
My food consisted of a vegetable packed breakfast, lunch and supper. I had a bean stir fry for lunch, which kind of caught up to me later in the day, I was noticing that I began to get a little bloated, which usually happens when I have indigestion, but this time it wasn’t painful, I think it was just large amounts of fibre that was coursing through my body. My smoothie was amazing this morning, it didn’t look appetizing because of the spinach, but couldn’t even taste it. And supper, supper is still cooking, a one pot pasta dish, packed with more vegetables. I can tell you that my vegetable count is through the roof, but that might not be such a bad thing. The vegetables that I am eating more of are the folate vegetables, alongside the foods with folate in them. The last two days I have been eating a lot of cheese, even though it technically says that is what I am supposed to eating at my age range, calcium is the word, not just cheese. I am going to try and find other ways to get my calcium in as well because cheese shouldn’t always be the go-to.
As I am sitting here typing this update to you, I do realize how fatigued I currently am, I always hope that my energy levels at night would be higher, but I do wake up rather early in the morning, 4:30am to be exact, so to begin to feel fatigued around six is not a sign of something with my nutrition, but a generic human body reaction. So.. I am going to eat supper, relax a little and then head to bed for an early bedtime.
All in all, the beginning hasn’t been too bad, but I do need to get cracking on that water though!
